I formalised my passion for Interior Design at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London, over 20 years ago. I was lucky enough to start my design journey working with a premium Italian kitchen and bathroom company, based in London, designing for residential projects in Europe and encompassing many individual premium projects.
This formulated a steep learning curve, and an incredible experience working within some of the most prestigious spaces in London.
A relocation to Australia followed, working with a designer furniture and luxury brand company, designing and project managing kitchens, bathrooms and joinery for high-end single and multi-residential projects in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Surrounded by extraordinary and impassioned work colleagues, and inspired by globally recognised artisans further instilled a deep love for design - whether it be an iconic statement piece or a simple well-made object.
Later the dream of living in Italy became a reality, with an opportunity to revive and expand an existing interiors based business. I spent 4 years in Tuscany absorbed and inspired by the culture, food and fashion, and of course the design and architecture.
Returning to New Zealand, I have been involved in kitchen and bathroom design and small-scale, more intimate projects. This is a particularly interesting time for me as I draw my inspiration from experiences abroad, linking the many cultural elements with typical New Zealand living - to create considered, calm, graceful, luxurious and elegant spaces while ensuring they are practical, functional and insanely comfortable!
It seems the world over, that we are not dissimilar in our desires and requirements to take the ordinary and create something quite extraordinary.
A global footprint of award winning collaborations with leading architects and developers culminates in the perfect skill to manage or help create your interior design dreams. Here are a handful of selected projects I have had the delight to contribute to.
My brief was to redesign and create three very different styles of kitchen living - a main kitchen, butlers pantry and the downstairs entertainer’s area
Twelve contemporary townhouses located in a secluded New Farm laneway
Kim designed and project managed my new kitchen and bathroom from start to finish. I could not have hoped for better service. Both rooms are wonderful and Kim’s attention to detail is amazing. She is also a great negotiator getting the best possible price for everything. I could not be happier with the outcome.
